I am an overweight diabetic and would like to lose weight.
IS there something you can recommend?
Yes, more evidence now indicates that diabetics who lose
weight tend to develop better control of their blood sugars. The one drug that
is being advocated in diabetics for weight loss is lorcaserin. The latest
clinical trials on this drug revealed good results in overweight diabetics. The
drug is well tolerated. If the doctors who conducted the studies are not lying,
then the drug appears to be of great benefit for overweight diabetics. To be eligible
for this drug you need to have a BMI over 27 and also have high blood pressure
or type 2 diabetes. The drug
certainly is not cheap and there is no guarantee it will work.
Thus, If you really
want to get control of the weight, the simplest and cheapest way is to change
your lifestyle, rather than rely on drugs. Walking more, eating less and not smoking
does work and is free- but it requires motivation.
