Prescription for CPAP

Do I need a prescription to use a CPAP machine?
Yes, in the USA you need a doctor's prescription to use this machine at home. It is all part of business. First, you need to see a sleep doctor and pay him a consult fee. Then he/she will order a bogus sleep study which will cost you another $1500-$2000. Then you will get a script for a CPAP machine.
The mask and the tubings do not require a prescription- just the machine that needs to be set-up to deliver the oxygen. You can buy these devices on eBay but it is not legal to use them without a doctor’s prescription. None of the oxygen companies will connect the device if you do not have a script. In addition, you must be educated about oxygen.
